The online solution assumes that users have an intermediate knowledge of photography, 3D fundamentals and some post processing knowledge. On this website we provide the tools and methodology that will allow you to scan virtually any object.
Any make of digital DSLR camera or Machine Vision cameras will do the trick. Our algorithm doesn’t care what device took the images, provided you calibrate and take the stereo-paired photographs correctly.
Yes, you can use any DSLR camera/lens configuration provided you follow the steps described on our website to calibrate and take quality stereo-paired images of your subject.
The procedure is described in a PDF in the “Downloads” section of your user Dashboard. You first need to create an account to access this. All the necessary tools may be downloaded from the SK website.
For a fixed two camera calibration i.e. when the two cameras are fixed to a rail and calibrated together, the cameras may be moved as a single unit provided care is taken not to jostle them. However, it’s best not to move your cameras after calibration because any change could introduce errors.
For a two camera system the object of interest should be placed at the point of focus established during the calibration stage. Next simply take stereo-paired images of your object as described within the Photography section of the downloads section.
